Monday, May 26th, 2008

All campaign volunteers, District 138 Precinct Chairs, and State Delegates are asked to come to a Volunteer Meeting at the McDavid home, 1342 Cheshire, in Oak Forest, on Saturday afternoon, May 31st.  Our meeting will be from 4:00 to 6:00, immediately followed by a Famous Mark McDavid Fish Fry.  For those who don’t know, 2006 District 138 candidate Mark McDavid is an avid fisherman, and now we can see how good he is at frying up that fish he catches! We’ll be making blockwalk plans, distributing walk lists, and developing our campaign strategy for the Democratic State Convention June 5-7.  There are many other ongoing volunteer needs, so if you have a little time to offer to help elect a Democrat to the Texas Legislature, come by on the 31st!  Besides, you don’t want to miss this Festive Fish Fry! Cinco de Mayo represents an important date in Hispanic history as the hard-fighting Mexican army warded off the invasion of Napoleon III and his French troops into their country.  Although not a US holiday, it does represent an “old world, new world” clash typical in the American hemisphere where indigenous people and soldiers fought hard to stave off colonial rule and exercise self-sovereignty.  Their success certainly deserves a toast! Viva el Mundo Nuevo!

Celebrate Earth Day with us on Saturday, April 19th
