Celebrate Super Tuesday with Virginia McDavid!
February 5th is a day for celebration! It’s Super Tuesday, Mardi Gras, and Virginia McDavid’s 43rd birthday!
Former Governor of Texas Mark White, former Attorney General of Texas Jim Mattox, and U. S. Congressman Gene Green know that Virginia McDavid is the strong candidate for House District 138 who can take on a Republican incumbent and return the district to Democratic leadership.
Please give her a very happy 43rd birthday by making a campaign contribution today! Whether you know Virginia best through her years of work as a CPA, from the airline where she upholds the rights of workers through the union, in her church, or with one of the many organizations to which she contributes her time, you know of Virginia’s courage to stand up for what is right and you know she has a firm grasp of the issues facing Texas today.
Only a candidate with Virginia McDavid’s courage and determination can change the course from the leadership of Republican incumbent Dwayne Bohac, who interned with Tom DeLay and received campaign donations from DeLay’s TRMPAC.
Bohac is already receiving large donations from lobbyists and PACs that do not support the needs and interests of the people of Texas as our great state has fallen further behind in health care, education and environmental safety.
As the Democratic challenger, Virginia’s campaign depends on the financial donations of supporters like you who want to change Texas and District 138 for the better.
Please help us take our message of A Better Texas For Future Generations to the people and families of Distict 138. Change must take place at the local level through a coordinated grassroots effort.
Your donation of $25 will buy 200 push cards/door hangers.
Your donation of $43 pays for mail to over 80 voters.
Your donation of $100 will buy 75 yard signs.

VIRGINIA MCDAVID WINS ENDORSEMENT OF THE HARRIS COUNTY AFL-CIO COUNCIL
Press Release - January 30th, 2008 (Houston-TX) Virginia McDavid, Democratic Nominee for Texas House District 138 in near north and west Houston, received the endorsement of the Harris County AFL-CIO Council’s Committee on Political Education (COPE). The Harris County Central Labor Council is a coalition of approximately 46,000 union members that is also part of the 230,000-member Texas AFL-CIO and the National AFL-CIO.E. Dale Wortham, President of the Harris County AFL-CIO Council and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), remarks about Virginia’s endorsement:
“Texas House District 138 needs a voice for the community. For too long the incumbent has been a voice for developers while ignoring the homeowners of the district. That voice of the community should be Virginia “Ginny” Stogner McDavid. “Ginny” has long been active in her community, her union, and has stood strong for the constituents of House District 138. Please join me in supporting labor and our endorsed candidate for Texas House District 138, Virginia “Ginny” Stogner McDavid.”
Virginia’s commitment to helping working Texans stems from her involvement in her own union: the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), which represents approximately 10,000 flight attendants at Continental Airlines. As a flight attendant for almost 18 years, Virginia has served as a grievance representative, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, and Trustee of IAM Local Lodge 2339.
“I’m excited about the endorsement from my brothers and sisters in labor. The Texas legislature could certainly use more voices from people like me who know how hard it can be to struggle with a layoff, monthly mortgage payment, or occupational injury. It’s time that everybody, including organized and unorganized working people, have a seat at the table,” says Virginia.
The Harris County AFL-CIO endorsement will be added to other organizational endorsements that include: The Texas State Council of Machinists Non-Partisan Political League, International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Lodge No. 24, the Texas Doctors’ Council Local Lodge 1199, the National Women’s Political Caucus of Texas, and the River Oaks Area Democratic Women. In addition to her positions within her own Local, Virginia has also served on the National Executive Board of the Coalition of Labor Union Women and Co-Chair of IAM Air Transport District 142’s Legislative and Political Action Committee. Virginia was awarded the Civilian Desert Shield & Desert Storm Medal by the US Air Force in 1993 for her service during the First Gulf War. Originally from Lubbock, TX, Virginia has resided in Houston for over 21 years and lives in the Oak Forest neighborhood of District 138 with her husband Mark. Virginia is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is also a CPA. Her goals after entering the Texas House include: strengthening our public schools, improving access to clean air, water & affordable health care, restoring rights that consumers, homeowners, taxpayers & workers have lost, and standing up to the auto”Craddick,” one-party leadership denying Texas voters a voice in state government. Virginia will be opposing Republican incumbent Dwayne Bohac in the November, 2008 elections. For more information about Virginia’s campaign and/or to make a donation, please call 713/812-9386 or log onto: www.votemcdavid.com.
